Thailand: BDMS and Sri panwa launch medically guided wellness retreats in Phuket

New four- and seven-day programmes combine preventive health assessments, physician consultations and luxury resort accommodation ahead of the Global Wellness Summit

Thailand’s BDMS Wellness Clinic and luxury resort Sri panwa Phuket have introduced a new medically guided wellness retreat combining preventive healthcare with high-end hospitality. The programme, named The Holistic Wellness Retreat, offers personalised health assessments, consultations with medical specialists and individually tailored wellness activities at the resort’s private pool villas overlooking the Andaman Sea.

Located on Cape Panwa in southern Phuket, the retreat is available in four-day, three-night and seven-day, six-night formats. Both programmes focus on stress management, sleep optimisation and hormonal health, combining medical consultations with nutrition, physical activity, mindfulness and relaxation. The initiative is designed for guests seeking a structured approach to personal wellbeing during a luxury holiday.

The partnership reflects Thailand’s continuing efforts to strengthen its position in international health and wellness tourism. By connecting a specialised preventive healthcare provider with an established luxury resort, the companies are developing a product that extends beyond conventional spa services. The launch also comes ahead of the Global Wellness Summit, scheduled to take place in Phuket from 10 to 13 November 2026, where the retreat will be presented as part of the event’s Immersive Experiences programme.

Medical assessments guide individual programmes

Each retreat begins with a comprehensive health assessment and a consultation with a preventive medicine specialist from BDMS Wellness Clinic. Physicians review the results alongside the guest’s medical concerns, lifestyle and personal objectives before developing an individual programme.

According to the providers, the assessment may include blood tests, with findings used to inform recommendations concerning nutrition, movement, recovery and appropriate supplementation. Guests also receive a personal health report containing guidance intended for use after their stay.

Dr. Kiettipoom Saithai, Assistant Director of Prevention & Wellness Clinic at BDMS Wellness Clinic, explained the approach:

“Scientific Wellness begins with understanding each individual’s health through scientific data.”

The programme then combines the medical recommendations with resort-based activities. Personalised dining, mindfulness sessions and spa experiences are adapted to the individual plan, while the private accommodation provides a setting for rest and relaxation.

The concept illustrates a growing area of cooperation between preventive healthcare providers and hospitality businesses. Rather than offering wellness activities independently of medical services, the partners aim to connect diagnostic information and professional advice with the guest’s experience throughout the stay.

However, the medical benefits of individual programme components should be distinguished from the broader wellness experience. The announcement does not provide clinical evidence demonstrating that participation in the retreat produces measurable improvements in sleep, stress-related conditions or hormonal health. The programmes are therefore best understood as medically guided preventive wellness services rather than treatments for specific diseases.

Phuket strengthens its international wellness offering

The partnership adds another specialised product to Phuket’s established international tourism market, where luxury accommodation, spa facilities and healthcare services already attract visitors from overseas.

For BDMS Wellness Clinic, the cooperation creates an opportunity to extend preventive health services into a resort environment. Sri panwa, meanwhile, can offer guests access to medical consultations and individual health assessments alongside its existing hospitality facilities.

The arrangement reflects an increasingly important distinction within wellness tourism: the difference between general relaxation experiences and programmes incorporating qualified medical professionals, diagnostic assessments and personalised health advice.

The companies are also using the forthcoming Global Wellness Summit to introduce the concept to an international industry audience. The event will bring together representatives of the wellness, hospitality and healthcare sectors, providing a platform for discussions about preventive health, longevity and the development of new wellness travel products.

BDMS Wellness Clinic is participating in the international wellness sector as Thailand Country Partner of the Global Wellness Institute for the fourth consecutive year, according to the company.

For Thailand’s health tourism industry, the new retreat demonstrates how medical expertise can be integrated into established resort infrastructure without requiring the development of a conventional hospital-based medical tourism product.

Its commercial significance will depend on international demand for physician-guided wellness stays, the quality of the services provided and the ability to maintain appropriate medical standards within a hospitality setting.
