New programmes in Bensberg, Frankfurt and Lake Tegernsee combine longevity medicine, sleep, yoga, Pilates, spa treatments and nutrition
Althoff Collection is expanding its retreat portfolio in Germany as health, regeneration and preventive wellbeing become increasingly important elements of luxury hospitality. The new programmes range from medically supervised longevity stays and fasting-mimicking diets to sleep-focused breaks, yoga retreats and active wellness weekends.
The concept combines the group's existing focus on architecture, service and gastronomy with its 4 elements spa by Althoff approach. Water, fire, earth and air provide the framework for treatments designed around individual wellbeing. Rather than treating wellness as an isolated hotel amenity, the retreats integrate movement, nutrition, recovery and, in some cases, medical diagnostics.
Medical longevity programmes at Schloss Bensberg
At Althoff Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg near Cologne, the group is working with INSTITUT UNIQ on programmes combining aesthetic medicine with longevity, regeneration and prevention.
Under the medical direction of Dr Maria Wiedner and Dr Dirk F. Richter, the institute follows what it describes as a holistic aesthetic surgery approach, bringing together medical expertise and restorative hotel stays. The programmes include medical supervision and diagnostics alongside spa treatments and regenerative therapies.
The Luxury meets Lightness retreat focuses on a fasting-mimicking diet based on the method developed by Prof. Valter Longo. It combines the nutritional programme with medical supervision, spa treatments and longevity applications. Retreat dates are scheduled for selected periods in October 2026 as well as February and October 2027.
A second programme, the Relax & Sleep Experience, is available throughout the year and concentrates on restorative sleep. Sleep rituals, selected sleep products, spa access and optional treatments are intended to help guests establish conditions conducive to longer-term recovery.
Also available year-round is the Longevity + Aesthetics Retreat. Offered as a five- or seven-day programme, it combines diagnostics and preventive medicine with coaching, infusions, regenerative technologies and spa treatments.
Two-day yoga retreat in Frankfurt
At THE FLORENTIN by Althoff Collection in Frankfurt, the focus shifts from medical longevity to movement, mindfulness and urban wellbeing.
The hotel's two-day Yoga Retreat includes yoga sessions, pranayama, meditation and time in the spa. Morning sessions concentrate on strength, mobility and balance, while quieter yoga and meditation sessions close the day.
The programme is led by Nina Kuhn, the hotel's Spa Manager, who is also an Ayurveda therapist, psychological Ayurveda consultant and yoga teacher.
Outside the scheduled sessions, participants can use the spa or explore Frankfurt and its nearby museums. The package also includes two vegetarian dinners at The Garden restaurant, a Dr. Barbara Sturm massage, two nights' accommodation and breakfast.
The retreats will take place from 25 to 27 September and from 23 to 25 October 2026. Participation is limited to a maximum of twelve guests per retreat.
Active wellness meets gastronomy at Lake Tegernsee
Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt at Lake Tegernsee is taking another approach, combining physical activity, spa experiences and gastronomy.
Its expanded 4 elements spa by Althoff offering includes yoga, Pilates, fitness programmes and individually tailored treatments. Facilities include an indoor pool, hot pool, private access to the lake and a new sauna area. Seasonal spa cuisine forms part of the concept.
The hotel's Weekend Escape Retreat brings together Pilates, yoga, barre and aqua sessions with content focusing on health, longevity and conscious lifestyle choices.
Food also plays a central role in the property's broader retreat experience. A separate three-night culinary journey takes guests through three of the hotel's restaurants, moving from Alpine cuisine and Italian influences to fine dining by Cornelia Fischer at Restaurant Überfahrt.
Together, the programmes illustrate how the boundaries between traditional hotel wellness, preventive health and leisure travel are becoming increasingly fluid. For Althoff Collection, retreats are developing into a format that can encompass medical longevity, sleep and mental recovery as readily as exercise, spa treatments and gastronomy.
