More than 200 senior healthcare and insurance executives are expected at the closed-door event, with over 1,000 pre-arranged one-to-one meetings
The Global Medical Tourism & Insurance Summit is returning to Florida as a focused business forum for international healthcare, medical travel and insurance. Organised by the Medical Tourism Association, the event will bring together hospital executives, insurers, employers, travel insurance companies and medical tourism facilitators.
Rather than operating as a conventional conference or exhibition, the summit is designed around direct negotiations and strategic partnerships. Attendance is deliberately limited, with more than 200 senior decision-makers expected and over 1,000 pre-arranged individual meetings planned.
Cross-border healthcare deals take centre stage
The summit has been held for more than 15 years and focuses on the commercial structures behind international patient travel. Topics include patient flows, international provider networks, insurance coverage, employer-funded healthcare and partnerships between hospitals and organisations sending patients abroad.
According to the organisers, previous participants have included senior executives from international insurers such as UnitedHealthcare Global and Cigna as well as hospital leaders from Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa and the Americas.
The format is intended to connect organisations with complementary business interests rather than maximise overall visitor numbers. Curated attendance and scheduled meetings are designed to give participants direct access to executives responsible for purchasing decisions, international patient programmes and insurance networks.
More than 1,000 individual meetings planned
A central element of the summit is its programme of more than 1,000 one-to-one meetings. These sessions are arranged in advance to enable hospitals, insurers, employers and medical travel companies to discuss specific opportunities for cooperation.
For healthcare providers seeking international patients, the gathering offers access to organisations that influence or directly manage patient flows. Insurers can use the event to assess potential additions to international provider networks, while employers can explore cross-border healthcare options for their workforces.

Singer Island combines healthcare, wellness and hospitality
The summit will be hosted at Amrit Ocean Resort on Singer Island in Palm Beach County, Florida. The beachfront property combines luxury hospitality with health and wellness programmes, providing a setting that reflects the increasing overlap between medical services, preventive healthcare and wellness tourism.
The resort is also introducing “Life Unlocked: Precision Recovery for Cardiothoracic Surgeons”, a three-day programme aimed at the physical, cognitive and emotional demands faced by high-performance surgical professionals.
Developed by psychiatrist Dr. Srini Pillay in collaboration with nutritional psychiatrist Dr. Uma Naidoo, the programme incorporates neuroscience, nutrition, autonomic nervous system regulation and recovery therapies. Members of the Medical Tourism Association are among the first groups being offered access to the programme.
Closed-door format aims for focused negotiations
The organisers regard confidentiality and restricted attendance as defining features of the summit. The closed-door environment is intended to allow senior executives to discuss commercial strategies and potential partnerships in greater depth than at a large trade exhibition.
This includes insurers considering new international healthcare networks, hospitals developing international patient departments and employers examining alternatives for financing and delivering healthcare across national borders.
Registration for the Global Medical Tourism & Insurance Summit is open, although attendance is limited. New Gold and Platinum members of the Medical Tourism Association's Better by MTA programme are offered complimentary registration subject to availability.
